Version 1.0
Effective July 2026

Welcome

Thank you for choosing Tokyo Cheap Moves. These Terms & Conditions are designed to help ensure every move is safe, efficient, transparent, and stress-free. By confirming your booking, you agree to the following terms.

1. Your Quote

Quotes are based on the information provided at the time of booking. If important details are missing or incorrect, your quote may need to be adjusted. Any changes will always be discussed with you before work continues. We do not believe in hidden fees or surprise charges.

2. Booking Confirmation

Your booking is confirmed once accepted by Tokyo Cheap Moves. Please review your booking details carefully and notify us as soon as possible if anything changes.

3. Preparing for Your Move

• Furniture should be emptied where practical and loose parts secured.
• Refrigerators and freezers must be emptied and defrosted where necessary.
• Washing machines must be emptied before transport. Our team will disconnect and reconnect washing machines where applicable.
• If our team disassembles furniture, we will reassemble it at the destination. Furniture disassembled before our arrival is not included unless agreed in advance.
• Where possible, we are happy to tighten loose screws and fittings during the unloading process to help improve the stability of your furniture. This is a complimentary courtesy and is not part of our standard moving service.

4. Perishable Goods

Food and other perishable items may be transported if securely packaged. Customers remain responsible for spoilage.

5. Valuable Items

Customers are encouraged to personally transport cash, passports, jewellery, important documents and other irreplaceable valuables.

6. Additional Items

Please let us know if your item list changes before moving day. Additional items or services may require the quote to be updated. Any changes will always be discussed with you before work continues.

7. Access Information

Please advise us in advance of stairs, lifts, long carry distances, narrow access, parking restrictions or building booking requirements.

8. Keys & Property Access

If you are collecting keys from a real estate agent or property manager, we recommend doing so before your moving day whenever possible. If the keys must be collected on the day of the move, we recommend doing so during the loading process. This helps us begin unloading immediately upon arrival and keeps your move running smoothly.

9. Payment

Payment is due on the day your service is completed.
• Moving & delivery services: payment after completion.
• Disposal services: payment after items have been collected and loaded.
Accepted payment methods:
• Cash
• Credit card
• Japanese bank transfer
Any deposit requirements, where applicable, will be advised at the time of booking.
Storage services are covered under a separate Storage Agreement.

10. Property & Liability

10.1 Existing Property Condition
Customers should identify existing damage where appropriate. We cannot accept responsibility for damage that existed before our arrival. If we notice visible damage, mould, water damage or other issues, we will do our best to bring them to your attention as a complimentary courtesy and not as a formal inspection.

10.2 During the Move
We take great care when handling your belongings. Moving large or heavy furniture through tight spaces carries inherent risk. If accidental damage occurs as a direct result of our negligence, we will discuss the matter promptly and work towards a fair resolution.
Some furniture weakens over time due to age, wear, previous repairs or loose fittings. We cannot accept responsibility for furniture that fails due to pre-existing weakness during normal handling.

10.3 Arrival at Your New Property
Customers should ensure safe access before unloading. If your home has recently been renovated or contains areas requiring special care, please let us know before unloading begins.

10.4 Customer Responsibilities
Boxes should be packed securely. Fragile items should be clearly labelled. Please advise us of items requiring special handling. Customer-packed boxes cannot be inspected and we cannot accept responsibility for damage resulting from insufficient packing.

11. Items We Cannot Transport

We do not transport:
• Illegal items or items prohibited under Japanese law.
• Firearms, weapons, ammunition or explosives.
• Hazardous chemicals or flammable liquids, including gasoline.
• Live animals or pets.
• Any item that presents a safety risk.

Exceptions:
• Kerosene may be transported only when securely stored in a suitable kerosene container.
• Fireworks may be transported only if legally owned, securely packaged and accepted at our discretion.

If you are unsure whether an item can be transported, please contact us before moving day.

12. Cancellations & Changes

If you need to cancel or reschedule your booking, please let us know as soon as possible. We do not charge cancellation or rescheduling fees.

If additional items or services are added before or on moving day, your quote may be updated. Any changes will always be discussed with you before work continues.

If fewer items are moved than originally quoted, any price adjustment is at the discretion of Tokyo Cheap Moves.

In the unlikely event of illness, vehicle breakdown or another unforeseen emergency, we will make every reasonable effort to complete your booking as planned. This may include arranging a replacement vehicle or driver, working with trusted industry partners or rescheduling to the earliest mutually convenient date. If changes become necessary, we will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.

13. Delays Beyond Our Control

While we always aim to arrive on time, some delays are beyond our control, including:
• Heavy traffic or road closures.
• Vehicle accidents or emergency services activity.
• Severe weather.
• Building access restrictions or lift availability.
• Unexpected parking restrictions, temporary road access changes or local events affecting access.
• Instructions from police, emergency services or building management.
• Natural disasters or other unforeseen events.

If a significant delay occurs, we will keep you informed as soon as reasonably possible and work with you to minimise disruption.

14. Our Promise

At Tokyo Cheap Moves, we believe moving should be straightforward, affordable and stress-free.

We are committed to providing a friendly, reliable and professional service while treating your home, belongings and time with the same care and respect we would expect ourselves.

We believe in honest communication, fair pricing and no hidden surprises. If anything unexpected arises, we will discuss it openly and work together to find a fair solution.

Where possible, we are happy to go the extra mile. While some additional assistance may be offered as a complimentary courtesy, our priority is to ensure every move is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Thank you for choosing Tokyo Cheap Moves. We appreciate the trust you place in us and look forward to helping make your move as smooth as possible.

15. Acceptance

By proceeding with your booking, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms & Conditions. These Terms & Conditions form part of your agreement with Tokyo Cheap Moves unless otherwise agreed in writing.
